Politeness is one of the main factors to achieve character education. The teacher should pay attention, show politeness, and consider themselves as part of parents. The purpose is to make some middle school teachers recognize how to criticize appropriately. This research was carried out to identify the types of politeness principles used by the EFL teachers during the classroom interaction, andto find out the effects of politeness principles in the classroom interaction during teaching-learning process. The researcher has chosen English teacher on the seventh and eighth grade at Lab School of UNISMUH Makassar. The researcher joined in the class and recorded the activities when teachers were teaching. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data, by doing data reduction, data display and conclusion. The researcher used the theory of politeness by Geoffrey Leech (2016) about politeness principle, which consists of six maxims, namely tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. The result of the observation showed that the EFL teachers used five maxims, namely tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim.Furthermore, the results of the interviews showed that the principle of politeness could create togetherness between teachers and students, build respect for students, create cooperative interactions between teachers and students, help students to have positive feelings towards lessons, motivate them to participate actively in class and also shapes the character and self-development of students to local culture.

Abstract

The signalized intersection of Kragan Street-Veteran Street Gresik is the gateway to and from Gresik Regency and Surabaya City, so there are often traffic jams or delays at this signalized intersection and accidents. The evaluation of the performance of the signalized intersection of Kragan Street-Veteran Street Gresik shows that the signalized intersection Kragan Street-Veteran Street is experiencing saturation obtained from the 1994 MKJI signalized intersection performance analysis method. According to the Ministry of Transportation regulation No. 96 of 2015, the signalized intersection of Kragan Street – Veteran Street is included in the category D level in signaled crossing services.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to describe the technology on TPACK-based HOTS applied by lecturers of a suburban university in teaching writing, and its challenge faced in-class interaction. Four English lecturers from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Blitar in Indonesia are the participants selected using the purposive sampling design. The process of data collection uses depth interviewing through the online system. Data are analyzed using a "holistic" viewpoint in case study. The results revealed that simple technology dominates the general interactions when teaching writing. Some lecturers may only have a basic understanding of utilizing technology to teach writing. Even they still favour using manual teaching. Because the internet network is poor, few students have technology equipment like laptops, and the interaction is tedious because students are unfamiliar with the technology. It is better that the government, schools, the community, and the primary critical holders for learning must work together in determining policies in the face of changes to use technology in all aspects of school interaction.

Abstract

One of the financial services industries that has developed very rapidly in recent years is the financial technology (fintech) industry, particularly the information technology-based money lending and borrowing service industry (LPMUBTI). Since 2016 the development of the information technology-based money lending and borrowing service industry (LPMUBTI) has recorded very high growth, far above the growth of other financial services industries. In practice, the information technology-based lending and borrowing service industry (LPMUBTI) uses customer personal identity data electronically. There is a need for oversight on this matter, because personal data protection is one of human rights which is part of personal self-protection, it is necessary to provide a legal basis to provide security for personal data, based on this, information technology-based money lending service providers (LPMUBTI) those who leak the personal data of their customers for any reason can be subject to criminal sanctions.

Abstract

The development of the spirit of regional autonomy is characterized by the enactment of Law Number 22 of 1999 concerning Regional Government, which encourages Villages to establish a business entity that aligns with the needs of the local community. This business entity is commonly referred to as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa). Village-Owned Enterprises are used to manage a business, utilize assets, develop investment and productivity, provide services and/or provide other types of businesses. With its status as a legal entity, the role of Village Owned Enterprises is increasingly important as a consolidator of community products/services, producers of various community needs, incubator of community businesses, providers of public services and various other functions. The development of Village-Owned Enterprises which have their own wealth originating from APBN and/or APBD funds is inseparable from the poor management carried out by Village-Owned Enterprises who abuse the authority they have. Furthermore, this abuse of authority can have implications for criminal acts of corruption in the management of village-owned enterprises, which can be held accountable for criminal corruption for perpetrators. This study uses normative research methods. The result of this research is that it is necessary to assert in the legislation that regulates the mechanism of settlement and accountability of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUM Desa) for errors and/or negligence in the management of BUM Desa.

Abstract

Automatic water management using an Arduino-based humidity sensor as a microcontroller provides practicality in strawberry cultivation, especially in high temperature areas such as in Blitar City. The purpose of this research is to design and test a automatic watering system prototype with an arduino-based soil moisture sensor for strawberry plants (fragaria ananassa). In this study, the method used was designing a prototype automatic watering system with an arduino-based soil moisture sensor for strawberry plants (fragaria ananassa) according to the design so that the prototype could work properly and testing the prototype for strawberry plants (fragaria ananassa) to get moisture data and the right time for giving water every certain period of time. The research activities were carried out in 4 stages including the needs analysis stage, the prototype design stage, the test and evaluation stage, and the final product stage. From the results of product design and development, it was found that the soil moisture sensor, arduino and water pump work according to the input or command.

Abstract

The use of good and correct Indonesian is reduced due to the emergence of the use of new language vocabulary or what is commonly called slang. Slang is a popular type of informal language, but its adaptability poses difficulties for current natural language processing systems. This study aims to describe the use of Slang by university students in Surabaya and its impact on the use of Indonesian. Data collection used a survey to respondents. The results of the analysis show that Slang is often used by university students in Surabaya. The positive impact of the use of Slang among students is that it makes them more creative in using language that is easier to remember and pronounce. The negative impact decreases the quality of Indonesian language formalism. The use of correct Indonesian is only used in lectures as well as writing articles, papers, and other scientific works.

Abstract

Instead of focusing on institution ranking, HEI should consider the students’ achievements because new students’ admission regulation allotted 20% of students registered by using achievement evaluation. In addition, every HEI must report student management, including students’ achievements through SIMKATMAWA. Bear in mind, the importance of student management and students’ achievement, the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship of factors affecting students’ achievement such as new students’ state university admission, students’ achievement motivation, students’ services, reward system, and students’ achievement. The researcher used a non-experimental quantitative approach i.e., correlational research. The sample of this study was 78 students of Brawijaya University (UB) who have high achievements. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was chosen as an analytical technique. This study showed a positive relationship between new students’ admission, students’ service, reward system, and students’ achievement. Those variables had a direct relationship. In addition, there was no significant positive relationship between new students’ admission for students’ achievement motivation, as well as students’ service for students’ achievement motivation. In sum, this study showed that UB had a good students management system, so that the students can get achievements.
